In January 2010 we undertook a new and exciting venture, we hosted our first winter ball, based on the annual New Year's Day Concert in Vienna. The programme included several well know Strauss waltzes interspersed with Polkas and even a Tango! The last pieces of the evening were, as tradition dictates, the Beautiful Blue Danube and Radetzky March.
We were delighted to have Charles Guard as compere who expertly led us through the evening. The Academy of Dance delighted the audience with beautiful ballet to Pizzicato Polka and Thunder & Lightening Polka, while the enthralling Madigan School of Dance showed exactly how the Viennese waltz should be done before encouraging audience members to the dance-floor.
Below is a slide show of photographs taken at the Ball, by Frank & Janet Warburton.
